Before any special handling begins, we need to know what you have. Walk through your home with your Cheep Cheep Movers team and identify every item that requires special handling.
Document these items: photograph each one before the move begins. This serves as both an inventory record and a condition documentation for any post-move claims.
Custom and Handcrafted Furniture
Handcrafted furniture — custom built-ins that have been removed for the move, one-of-a-kind tables, heirloom pieces — often has unique vulnerabilities based on construction method and materials.
We ask about the construction: joints, veneer, finish type, and any known fragility before we wrap or move these items. The wrapping approach varies based on what we learn.
Original Art, Limited Edition Prints, and Photography
Original works on paper or canvas require acid-free glassine paper as the first wrapping layer — it won’t stick to, mark, or react with painted surfaces.
After glassine: bubble wrap for cushioning, then moving blankets for external protection.
Framed pieces are transported standing vertically on their longest edge, never flat, and never with weight pressing against the face.
Custom Upholstered Furniture
Custom upholstered sofas, chairs, and ottomans have specific fabric vulnerabilities: snags, compression marks, and moisture absorption.
We use stretch wrap on custom upholstery to protect the fabric from dirt, moisture, and contact damage during transit.
